Man, they don't make cartoons like they used to.
Back in my day, cartoons had personality.
And one I remember fondly, was the three minute shorts about a fictional, evil organisation called "F.E.A.R"... and their their supposedly evil plans.
In one episode, the leader of the organisation... who called himself "#1" went to make a deposit to their banker. Here's how the interraction went:
#1: "Vulturo, our evil banker. We have come to make yet another deposit."
Vulture: "Is it one million dollars?"
#1: "Yes!, How could you possibly know!?"
Vulturo: "Because YOU ALWAYS DEPOSIT ONE MILLION DOLLARS! Why don't you try something exciting for once! Like an overdraft... or a morgage!"
#1: "Okay... what if I depost half a million dollars..."
Vulturo: "That, would be a start."
#1: "And then I deposit another half a million dollars..."
Vulturo: ...
#1: ...
Y'know, this skit has lived rent free in my head for over 20 years. And it STILL makes me laugh when I think about it. But what happens in this skit is no joke... the same thing over and over again DOES indeed get boring after a while. Even IF it's a million dollars.
Same pschology applies with your emails and what you say.
You see, it doesn't matter how revolutionary your ideas are...
They WILL get boring if you keep repeating them over and over again.
Leaving with two potential paths.
You could either:
A: Come up with new ideas...
Or
B: Come up with new context to make your current ideas fresh again!
Personally I'm more of a fan option B.
Why?
Because your main task when it comes to educating your subscribers... is to keep beating the lesson in their heads until it sinks in (this rarely happens in one go)... while keeping the lesson itself feeling fresh.
This is why a keen focus on context, is key to keep your ideas new in your customer's eyes.
I actually covered this idea, and how to go about applying it in the "Hook theory" workshop I held last year. If you're interested in the recording for the workshop... feel free to reply to this email and send you the details.
Till the next wave of madness...

Sooo, I just finished that new "Avatar:The Last Airbender" series by Netflix. And there's a scene about midway through the show which caught my attention (don't worry, this is NOT a plot spoiler... as if I'd spoil a ten year old story). You see, one of the characters in the story is girl named Katara, and her special skill is something called "water bending". Think of it as the power to control water and use it as a weapon. There are three other types of bending: Air bending... Fire...
Ever heard of John Mcafee? No, not that one... I mean the other one. Y'know... The crazy dude who made that Antivirus you're probably running? The crazy dude who ran for president? The one who didn't kill himself in jail? Yeah... THAT John Mcafee. Well get this, before he was a madman in Belize stimulating the local economy by paying the hookers to shit in his mouth (not making this up disclaimer)... he was a software salesman. In fact, he's known for creating one of the very first antivirus...
