Man... what a mad month this has been.
I'll spare you the details and jump into the meat of what I want to share today...
I'm a nerd.
Naw... scrath that...
I'm a huge nerd.
And one comic book series which has a permanant place in my heart, is Spawn.
Spawn is widely considered to be the grand daddy of independent comic books... and was created by Todd McFarlane.
But get this...
Todd McFarlance almost didn't become a comic book artist.
In fact...
The history of the comic book industry as we know it all hinged on a single limiting midset Todd carried...
The idea that he, who came from a small town away from New York (where all the big comic book artists hung out) was a nobody and didn't deserve to draw comics.
He thought because he didn't come from New York, nobody would take him seriously.
So...
What changed his mind?
Well...
One day while reading an issue of the X-men, he found out the artist behind that issue actually lived a few miles from where he stayed.
In other words...
Another "small town nobody" just like him managed to make it.
This revelation sparked a fire inside Todd.
In that instance...
He knew that not only was his goal possible...
But that someone like him could do it.
And this is a key aspect of buyer psychology lots of people miss in their campaigns...
The fact that often times, it's not the offfer that has to be sold... but the idea that the customer can actually make it work.
A customer can be 100% sold on your product, and 0% sold on themselves.
And trust me when I say this...
The greatest product in the world means nothing to a customer who doesn't believe it will work for THEM specifically.
Keep this in mind, as you plan your campaigns.
Till the next wave of madness...
Vae Victis...

Sooo, I just finished that new "Avatar:The Last Airbender" series by Netflix. And there's a scene about midway through the show which caught my attention (don't worry, this is NOT a plot spoiler... as if I'd spoil a ten year old story). You see, one of the characters in the story is girl named Katara, and her special skill is something called "water bending". Think of it as the power to control water and use it as a weapon. There are three other types of bending: Air bending... Fire...
Ever heard of John Mcafee? No, not that one... I mean the other one. Y'know... The crazy dude who made that Antivirus you're probably running? The crazy dude who ran for president? The one who didn't kill himself in jail? Yeah... THAT John Mcafee. Well get this, before he was a madman in Belize stimulating the local economy by paying the hookers to shit in his mouth (not making this up disclaimer)... he was a software salesman. In fact, he's known for creating one of the very first antivirus...
Y'know, I find it funny that kids these days don't know what fame is. To them... Fame is having a huge follower count on social media. Or having a ton of watchers of Youtube. Kids these days legit can't comprehend how anyone can be famous without the internet. So it shocks them when we tell them about the man who defined fame. ... Michael Jackson. How famous was he? The whole world, even us down in Africa knew who he was before the internet was widespread. Him spending the night at a hotel...
