Y'know, I find it funny that kids these days don't know what fame is.
To them...
Fame is having a huge follower count on social media.
Or having a ton of watchers of Youtube.
Kids these days legit can't comprehend how anyone can be famous without the internet.
So it shocks them when we tell them about the man who defined fame.
... Michael Jackson.
How famous was he?
The whole world, even us down in Africa knew who he was before the internet was widespread.
Him spending the night at a hotel was enough to attract a stadium sized crowd out his window just to look at him.
Michael Jackson was so famous, he had no idea what a normal life was like.
He couldn't go out without the papparazzi stalking his every move.
Because of this, believe it or not...
Michael had NEVER gone shopping.
Ever.
It was an experience so alien to him...
That one of his friends had to arrange for a department store to be closed for a day just so Michael could go in... and experience what it is like to shop like a normal person.
...and Michael enjoyed every second of it.
Look... to you and I, shopping is something so normal, so mundane that we don't really put much thought into it.
But to Michael?
It was the experience of a lifetime.
Something as simple as walking down the aisle, picking a can of beans and waiting in line was pure joy for him.
And this is because as "normal" as shopping is for us...
It was new to him.
This is a simplel reminder that no matter how "ordinary" or boring something is in your life...
Someone out there will find it interesting.
This is why simple, personal stories from your world are so powerful.
To you, they're normal.
To everyone else...
It's a whole new world.
Keep that in mind next time you think something is too boring to talk about in an email.
Till the next wave of madess...

Sooo, I just finished that new "Avatar:The Last Airbender" series by Netflix. And there's a scene about midway through the show which caught my attention (don't worry, this is NOT a plot spoiler... as if I'd spoil a ten year old story). You see, one of the characters in the story is girl named Katara, and her special skill is something called "water bending". Think of it as the power to control water and use it as a weapon. There are three other types of bending: Air bending... Fire...
Ever heard of John Mcafee? No, not that one... I mean the other one. Y'know... The crazy dude who made that Antivirus you're probably running? The crazy dude who ran for president? The one who didn't kill himself in jail? Yeah... THAT John Mcafee. Well get this, before he was a madman in Belize stimulating the local economy by paying the hookers to shit in his mouth (not making this up disclaimer)... he was a software salesman. In fact, he's known for creating one of the very first antivirus...
